Patient Bill of Rights
Respect
All patients have a right to considerate
and respectful care.They are to be treated as equals. They have the
right to be treated with utmost sensitivity to their needs and feelings.
Privacy
They have the right to privacy as stated in the Privacy
Act of of 1974 and the HIPAA Act. All matters regarding patients are
confidential and will not be released without written consent of the
patient.
Service
Patients have the right to fast and efficient service,
regardless of sex, religion, race, education, social background or economic
status.
Confidentiality
Patients have the right to privacy of personal matters.
Those not directly involved with care must have permission to be present.
Information
Patients have the right to know the names of all
personnel involved in conducting medical care. They have the right to
know the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and any other significant
information regarding their health.
Extended Care
Patients have the right to care beyond our capabilities.
They have the right to be referred to specialists, treatment And other
services as deemed necessary by his/her health needs and our physicians.
Communication
Patients have the right to clear explanations of
all information that is relayed to him/her. Any patient who speaks little
or no English has the right to an interpreter if necessary.
Choice
Patients have the right to accept or refuse treatment
to the extent permitted by law.
